I started track days back in 2006. My first track experience was at Texas World Speedway (TWS) located in College Station, TX with the RideSmart organization. This is when I knew this was something I wanted to do.
Flash forward to 2018, relocated to Kansas and made some new riding acquaintances that spent time at the track. Our closest track in Heartland Motorsports Park (HPT) in Topeka, KS. There is an opportunity to go out over the lunch break and get three laps at a mild/moderate pace to let those who haven’t been out there before or in a long time get familiar with that track and decide if that is something they want to do. Of course, naturally, I loved it and reminded me of the ole days when I rode in Texas.
I do one track day on my 2007 Yamaha FZ1 and I am hooked. I have to find I dedicated track bike. I want to find something reasonably price and easy to maintain. Enter the 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. The last two years I have been riding in the intermediate group because I have been riding for many years and have done track days before. I moved up in the skills groups and decide I need to see what’s next.
What better way to gain experience than to ride I different track. We have a couple choices within 4 hours commute to ride and I chose Motorsports Park of Hasting (MPH).
