Are You Ready to Race Your Motorcycle?

Motorcycle racing is an exhilarating experience, rich with thrills and spills. If you’re new to the scene, knowing how to prepare your motorcycle and ride it safely will be essential. As a motorbike riding and maintenance expert, with over 20 years’ experience, I’ve got the tips and tricks to help you get up to speed!

First and foremost, the most important part of motorbike racing is the preparation. Before you think of pushing your bike to the limit, it’s essential to make sure it’s reliable and safe to ride. From tire pressure, to brakes, gears and fluids, get to know your bike’s components so that you can upkeep and customize it, to suit your riding style. Next, get familiar with your bike’s behavioral nuances. You don’t want to be unwrapping it from the crate and learning on the go.

Once you’ve got your bike prepped and ready for action, it’s time to begin honing your technique. Even if you’re an experienced rider, there’s still plenty to learn from the track. Balance, braking techniques and the ability to instinctively interpret your bike’s behavior are all essential components of any successful racer.

Take it slow. Ensure you are comfortable with a circuit before you start building speed and make sure you don’t enter races until you’ve passed the necessary training.

Finally, as you start to become more competitive, it’s important that you keep your success in perspective. If you’re successful this early on, don’t be tempted to push too hard to make it to the top. The potential for accidents increases significantly and the world of motorbike racing can quickly become a dangerous game.

Good luck with your motorbike racing dreams, stay safe and have fun!
