Completed: HMRC 10-25-2020 – Motorcycle Lapping Days

Third track of the season and it was a blast. This track was technical in more ways than one. The elevation changes are amazing and precise. It was a new way of riding and left the track with more experience than I came with. We took the morning to ride with an instructor to guide us through all the lines on the track. Each time we increased the pace. In the afternoon we were able to go at our own pace and made some improvements.

Once we hit the afternoon sessions we opened it up for some lapping. We utilized the tire warmers and took our time around the first lap to reach the best temperature we could for the cold track. It was a very successful day as there were no crashes within our group, however, there were multiple riders who rode way over their heads a crashed during the sessions. The most problematic corner was #2 to #3 due to riders grabbing more throttle than they should’ve. You can watch a few in the videos at the bottom of this post.

For me, I made get improvements and learned a lot from the coaches at this track. We met a few people from our area and made some new friends. I was able to take of 20 seconds of my lap times by session 7. I felt I could’ve pushed it further but being cooler weather I didn’t want to take the risk. I focused on staying consistent and sticking to a good pace that I could maintain over the course of the track.
